Widows' Farm Enterprises is a Community Based Organization (CBO) headquartered in Kadawa, near Kisumu Kenya, on Lake Victoria; certified by the Kenyan government. The organization, helps this needy community and surrounding areas in Western Kenya. It oversees:
THE WIDOWS' FARM
Established to grow crops to feed destitute, elderly widows
who have no family and no means of support.
A CREDIT UNION
Government approved SACCO (Savings & Credit Cooperative
Organization) established to encourage saving money and to
provide loans for individuals and groups to establish small
micro-finance businesses or to further develop established
A MEDICAL FUND
Established for eye clinics and subsequent treatment or
operations; transportation to and from medical treatment
facilities; minor surgery and to pay for necessary medication.
Such as: A Tractor Business, vegetable sales and shelling
maize for local farmers for medical needs of destitute widows.
The farm is a base for the organization of several projects
and the distribution of food and other items that are intended
to improve or enhance the lifestyle of men, women and children
in Kadawa and surrounding areas. The distribution is made
possible by sponsorship raised through the ministry of the
The Widows' Farm was established in 2009 by John & Marty Smith, followed in 2013 by the establishment of the CBO.
